Book cover designed to illustrate Edgar Allan Poe’s tale “the fall of the house of usher” through the use of image manipulation and hand made typography.
Surrounded by death and grief, Allan Poe transformed loss into a distinctive literary voice. This short story portrays an disturbed environment, filled with fear, anxiety, and an sense of emptiness as if everything is slowly falling apart.
I translated these emotions through typography with roughen edges and an arched grid that reflects both classic horror aesthetics and the house slow collapse and using noises and textures to suggest the decay of the Usher family

I've always loved horror films, so for this project I explored both classic and contemporary horror typography. The artwork for Florence + the Machine's album Everybody Scream was my main inspiration for the arched composition.
As I explored different sketches, I realized that a strong horror cover should evoke an emotional response and I translated that idea through a vandalized photograph aesthetic, causing curiosity and discomfort in the viewer.
